Indicative pricing

From £20 per letter, plus the cost of the stone, for simple house signs.

Other sculptural pieces and larger pieces are quoted individually based on size, complexity, and materials – simpler works from around £400, larger commissions may run into thousands.

Private memorials

I create private garden memorials in British stones – slate, limestone, sandstone, and granite – carved by hand with care and attention to detail.

For memorials on your own land, I work directly with you to design something appropriate and lasting, tailored to honour your loved one with careful attention to inscriptions, materials, and placement.

For churchyard and cemetery headstones or public memorial plaques requiring permissions, all arrangements are made through Whitaker Stone Ltd, who handle site visits, permissions, and installation. I carve all stones by hand.

How it works

Four steps from enquiry to delivery:

1. Enquiry and initial discussion

Get in touch to describe what you’re looking for. We can discuss the materials, design, timeline, and budget.

2. Design & quote

I’ll provide a detailed quote and design sketches or a written description of the proposed work.

3. Carving

Simple signs take 1-2 weeks to carve once they reach the front of my work queue, provided I have the stone in stock. If your stone needs to be ordered from the quarry, please allow an extra 4-6 weeks for delivery. We’ll discuss full timelines during the initial consultation, based on my current workload.

4. Delivery

Depending on size and location, pieces can be collected from my workshop, delivered locally, or shipped. Installation can be arranged through a third party for larger garden sculptures or memorials at additional cost.
